Edition III / Revised 2026

ABOUT THIS WORK

About this work

Editorial principles, key features, methodology, and revision history. A note on how and why this dictionary was made.

This dictionary was compiled as a practical resource for Japanese speakers learning Uyghur. Despite its deep historical and cultural roots in Central Asia, reliable Japanese-language study material on Uyghur is scarce.

Centered on dictionary search, the book gathers script, grammar, practical phrases, and typing practice — elements systematically arranged for beginners through intermediate learners — in a single place. We hope it serves as both an entry point and a daily reference.

§ 1

Editorial principlesEDITORIAL PRINCIPLES

This dictionary is built on three principles.

  • 01

    Accuracy

Meanings, examples, and grammatical information are based on verified sources wherever possible. If you spot an error, please let us know through the feedback form.

  • 02

    Transparency

Some of the lexical data is generated with the help of artificial intelligence (AI). This choice helps us cover a wide vocabulary range with limited resources — and we disclose its nature to readers.

  • 03

    Continuity

This dictionary is not a finished book but a living reference, improved daily by reader feedback and editorial revisions. With each edition, we move closer to a more trustworthy dictionary.

§ 2

§ 3

MethodologyMETHODOLOGY

The dictionary is compiled from multiple linguistic sources under the supervision of native speakers. Artificial intelligence assists the compilation, and its output is checked by native speakers before it is included.

Headwords, transliterations and primary meanings are curated by hand, and supplementary glosses and example sentences are being reviewed by native speakers entry by entry.

Sections on grammar, phrases, and the alphabet are built primarily on information verified by native speakers.

§ 4

Editorial teamEDITORIAL TEAM

This dictionary started as an individual project by the Kenjisoft Editorial Desk. We took on a Uyghur dictionary for Japanese speakers — a small market — out of interest in preserving and transmitting language, rather than commercial motives.

This work is supported by feedback from readers, native speakers, and researchers. Cooperation toward improvement is always welcome.
